They had ended up agreeing on a nearby park. Come to find out Hyacinthus was not a tourist in town, but had wanted to start going to a new coffee shop before work. Normally Apollo wouldn\u2019t go out this late, but his love life was more important than his sleep schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apollo found Hyacinthus on a park bench waiting for him. They were wrapped up in nice, warm clothes, Apollo was not. Having just jumped off his couch and quickly getting ready, he was in his usual jeans and t-shirt, which did not fit the nearly freezing weather. Hyacinthus gave him a weird look with the clothes he was wearing, but they didn\u2019t say anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo\u2026what did you want to do?\u201d Apollo\u2019s skill at conversation was beaming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hyacinthus got up from the bench and walked up to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s walk and talk?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, they walked around the park. It was nearly 11 pm at this point so they were some of the only people there at this point. They realized they were quite similar. They both played instruments, Apollo the guitar and Hyacinthus the drums. They both enjoyed sports, Apollo running and Hyacinthus soccer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo how come I\u2019ve never seen you at the shop before?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hyacinthus took a moment before responding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt seemed\u2026busy. And it is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apollo felt like they were hiding something, but he didn\u2019t push further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAre you new in town?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI moved here a few months ago to a tattoo shop. I finished apprenticing at my previous one and wanted to go somewhere new, with new people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCan you show me your work?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apollo didn\u2019t expect what happened next. Hyacinthus took off their jacket, revealing their arms filled with tattoos. They were filled with numerous creatures and plants. Sunflowers, orchids, a large swan, and even a snake that started on one arm, disappearing under their shirt, and reappearing on their other arm. Apollo was so invested he nearly didn\u2019t hear the whish of something approaching them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWatch out!\u201d someone called from the grass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apollo quickly ducked, touching Hyacinthus\u2019 hands for the first time and dragging them down with him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A bright red frisbee at high speeds nearly hit them both in the head, but they had managed to dodge it just in time. The only other people in the park were these two guys throwing it around. It seems they weren\u2019t great at aiming. One of the guys ran over and got the frisbee, he didn\u2019t even apologize, just looked at Hyacinthus, gave a disgusted look, and left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCan we leave the park?\u201d Hyacinthus asked. They looked on the verge of tears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah, sure.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apollo couldn\u2019t tell why, maybe it was them holding hands, maybe it was nearly being hit in the head by a frisbee. They walked out of the park and started walking around town, neither having a destination in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo\u2026are you okay? You seem, shaken up,\u201d Apollo inquired. He tried his best not to upset them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m fine. It wasn\u2019t you I promise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s\u2026good? Apollo still wasn\u2019t sure what upset Hyacinthus and it showed on his face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh. You don\u2019t know what upset me do you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNope.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was the guy, the look he gave me. It happens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apollo was thoroughly confused now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve never been with someone who is trans before have you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apollo blushed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot like that,\u201d Hyacinthus playfully slapped his shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPeople give me weird looks all the time, I\u2019m usually used to it. I just wasn\u2019t expecting it tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ooooh. Apollo understood now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2026sucks. I\u2019m sorry you have to deal with that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s alright. That\u2019s partly why I moved here, hoped it would be better in a city rather than the middle of nowhere.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, what about your family?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hyacinthus visibly cringed at the mention of family. Apollo mentally slapped his own face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the other reason I moved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apollo couldn\u2019t really come up with anything else. He felt bad for their situation, but he couldn\u2019t think of anything to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s alright, I know it doesn\u2019t sound fun. It certainly-\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Someone was shaking Apollo, he was dazed. What just happened to him? He had been talking to Hyacinthus while crossing the street and\u2026there were a bunch of sounds. Tires squealing, sirens, people yelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
